When you envision your perfect wedding, it includes lots of beautiful flowers, doesn’t it?  But the cost of the flowers for your big day can be a budget buster unless you take steps to curb the cost.  Your floral arrangements can still be beautiful if you follow these inexpensive wedding flowers ideas.

  • Decide exactly how much money you have in the budget for flowers and stick to it.  First call around to various florists and get some figures so you can plan a realistic budget.  From there, decide how much you want to spend and look for ways to make it happen.  You do have options.
  • If your ceremony will take place in a church, you may be able to piggyback on the floral arrangements they are already providing to decorate the church for services.  If you ask, they may be fine with setting out the arrangements on Saturday instead of waiting until Sunday services.
  • Consider using potted flowering plants instead of cut arrangements for decoration.  Potted plants are usually less expensive and can be taken home and enjoyed a lot longer.  These make pretty reception table decorations complete with ribbons in your colors.  The guests may take them home and remember your wedding for a long time to come.
  • Think about using silk flowers as a less expensive alternative.  Maybe you can use a combination of silk and fresh cut flowers.  Your bouquet can be cut blooms and the end of the pew and reception table arrangements can be silk.
  • Keep the arrangements simple as this will keep costs down.  If you’re using a florist, explain your budget and ask her to work with you to stay within this budget.
  • Keep in mind, the bigger your wedding party, the more you’ll spend in flowers as each bridesmaid will carry a bouquet and each usher will wear a boutonniere.
  • Use flowers that are currently in season and grown locally.  Not only will these be less expensive, you’re bringing the flavor of the locale into your wedding.  Rare exotic flowers that have to be shipped in from across the globe can surely break the budget.
  • Consider other options like using less popular, but still beautiful flowers.  You don’t have to go with trendy, high demand flowers that cost more.
  • If you want to use fresh flowers for the table decorations, one flower in an inexpensive vase with a ribbon and a few tea lights around it makes for a beautiful centerpiece.

These are some inexpensive wedding flowers ideas for you, to help you have a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank.  You really can spend less on your flowers if you plan it out and consider alternatives.  And remember, the less you spend on flowers, the more you have left for the honeymoon.
