Since your wedding is your special day, you ought to be able to have your wedding at a very special place. That doesn’t mean the place has to be really expensive; there are many affordable wedding reception venues.
Before you decide where to get married, ask yourself some questions:
Will either my fiancé or I be upset if we get married somewhere other than a church?
Do we want an indoor or outdoor wedding?
Is there a good spot for the reception where the wedding ceremony will take place?
If outdoors, will the location fit with the weather at the time of year we want to get married?
What is our wedding budget? Is this an affordable wedding reception venue?
Is the location even available for weddings? What are their available hours and will this work for my wedding?
Does this wedding reception venue provide any services such as catering and seating? Or am I allowed to use my own services?
Is the area big enough for the number of guests I want to invite?
If you are unsure of a location for your wedding or the place you initially picked out isn’t going to work, consider these possible wedding reception venues located where you want to get married:
Golf courses – outside or in the clubhouse
Public gardens – under a trellis or on a little bridge
Private gardens – some estates rent out their gardens for private weddings
Reception or receiving halls – many clubs have big halls that work well
Scenic tourist chapels – check out your tourist spots
Home – outside in a gazebo or on the lawn, or inside using the grand staircase
Hotel grounds – make a beautiful backdrop for a wedding
Restaurant – great for a more casual wedding
Apartment – many apartment clubhouses are quite fancy
Campground – for the outdoorsy casual couple
Marina – get married in the clubhouse and sail off on your honeymoon
Historical building – many cities offer historical homes or buildings for weddings
These are just some affordable wedding reception venues. If you don’t want to get married in a church or have a typical wedding reception, consider looking around at what’s available and picking what sounds the best for the two of you.
